    I have always been an advocate for emergency preparedness and storing food for anything from natural disasters, to job loss, to pandemics, to food supply issues or even for something as simple as running out of milk in the middle of cooking dinner. In fact I've blogged about food storage for almost sixteen years now over at my blog Food Storage Made Easy.

    Over the years I have stockpiled a TON of food but even I still face the dilemma that all moms face nearly every day.

    I was storing ingredients but didn't have a good game plan for putting them together into actual recipes. I realized in an emergency situation where I was living off of my food storage I would be stressed out and might not even have all of the ingredients, spices, condiments, etc. that I would need to complete a meal.

    I decided I wanted to come up with a meal plan to get me through three months of an emergency eating regular meals that my kiddos were used to.

    I struggled with putting together meals that included pantry items like pastas and canned goods because the shelf life is short and it was hard to organize rotating through them.

    One day I was at an emergency preparedness fair and I stumbled upon a display of meals-in-a-jar and my mind was blown.

    I could take FREEZE-DRIED FOODS which were already in my storage ... and combine them together into a simple, complete meal that is ready to go in an emergency.

    I immediately started coming up with recipes and experimenting with them and my monthly meals-in-a-jar group was born.

    I started coming up with a new recipe each month based on what items were on sale from Thrive Life (my favorite freeze-dried food company).

    Once I got out of the mindset that these meals were just for "end of the world" situations, I was blown away at how many times I was actually able to use them for myself and to bless the lives of others and I wanted to share it with the world!

    Will this be for accessible via phone or just computer?

    While many of my recipes include freeze-dried foods you can also use home-dehydrated foods from your garden and other inexpensive items such as beans, pasta, and rice as fillers for your recipes. This brings price down significantly.
